This quiet uncluttered beach town, 145 kms from Mumbai, is a great weekend getaway. It lies just North of Mumbai, on the Gujarat-Maharashtra border. Quiet and uncluttered, Bordi is known for its long stretch of clean beaches, chickoo orchards and casurina trees. The beach is the main attraction in the town: the sand is fringed with a series of orchards and is a perfect place to de stress, sun bathe, swim or just go for long walks. The really empty stretches are in the South towards Dahanu and towards the north in Umergaon. Unlike other beaches in Maharashtra which are silver, the beaches in Bordi are golden. Bordi has a strong Parsi influence and is a good place to see and enjoy their culture.
Between October and March.
In summers Bordi does get oppressively hot and sultry. However, the monsoons are glorious - the entire countryside turns lush green.
